The 2003 Stanley Cup Playoffs are one to remember. Not only made it the Minnesota WIld to the Western Conference Final, the probably two best teams met in the Eastern Conference Final, the New Jersey Devils and the Ottawa Senators. And also of course there was the huge stick save of Giguere and Brodeurs “own Goal”. And: Off the floor! On the board!

The 2003 playoffs proved seeding does not mean a damn thing. Such a memorable playoff year. You had the Mighty Ducks sweep the defending cups champs Detroit in the quarterfinals, you had the Mighty Ducks take out top seed Dallas in the semi-finals, and then fall one game short of winning it all. You had the Minnesota Wild in just their third season of existence, come back from not one but two 3-1 series deficits doing it to the Colorado Avalanche in the quarterfinals and Vancouver in the second round.
In the east, you had the Ottawa Senators finally get the playoff monkey off their back and make a deep run, and it gave us a classic seven game series in the Eastern Conference Finals between Ottawa and New Jersey. Such a great playoff year.
My 1st nj devils playoff game was the stanely cup game 7 vs the Ducks. That was the best night of my life!
this was the first year I watched hockey…really ignited a passion.
